Alexander D’Hooghe is a visionary leader in urbanism, architecture and large-scale systems transformation. He is the founder of ORG Permanent Modernity and Solv, and currently serves as Chief Strategy Officer of ORG, a design agency and think tank based in Brussels and New York City. With a PhD from the Berlage Institute and a master’s degree in Urban Design from Harvard, Alexander is an expert in large, multi-functional infrastructure projects and masterplans, with a focus on resiliency, industry and innovation.
Formerly the director of MIT’s Leventhal Center for Advanced Urbanism (LCAU), Alexander has designed masterplans in cities around the world, including New York City, Shenzhen, Belgium, The Netherlands, Iceland, South-Korea, Malawi, Ghana, parts of Russia, and more. Recent ORG projects involving Alexander have included initiatives in NYC, Amsterdam, Antwerp, Malawi, and other locations.
Alexander is also the chairman of the board for the think tank ‘Itinera’, based in Brussels. He is a published author and has contributed to numerous publications on the subject of urbanism and architecture. In addition, he recently established Solv, a company that makes machine-learning methods to minimize risk and maximize impact of large investments available for the global market. Alexander’s passion for creating sustainable, resilient cities is evident in everything he does, and we are thrilled to have him as a speaker at Love Tomorrow Conference.
