Ioana Dobrescu is the Managing Director of Water Footprint Implementation, a leading knowledge partner for private and public organizations aiming to understand their water use along the value chain and how it impacts the global economy, environment, and society.
Having spent her childhood in the relatively pristine landscapes of rural Romania, Ioana naturally became an environmentalist when faced with the realities of an unchecked-growth society and its effects on nature and water in particular. The organizations who are driving our societies and economies, from farming to clothing production to electronics, are doing so without being aware of the negative impact they might have on freshwater and the positive role they can play in safeguarding this most precious resource.
To counteract the negative effects of freshwater overconsumption and pollution, for the past year Ioana and her team have been working on the development of a new concept which has the potential to mobilize the private sector to restore freshwater quality and quantity across the globe. The Water Footprint Compensation concept has seen the light of day this March at the UN Water Conference in New York and is now being rolled out internationally.
At the Love Tomorrow conference, Ioana will use all her passion for nature to inspire you to care for water.
