Gliding towards a greener future: sustainability at Tomorrowland Winter

For this year’s edition, Tomorrowland Winter is taking significant steps to create a lasting positive impact with Love Tomorrow. Numerous initiatives will inspire festivalgoers to make sustainable choices – both during the festival and beyond.

Love Tomorrow, the sustainability engine behind Tomorrowland, focuses on responsibility, nature, innovation, health, and respect. Its mission is to inspire and empower visitors to take environmentally conscious actions, while Tomorrowland itself continues to implement innovations for a more sustainable future.

Logistics and production fueled by vegetable oil

Logistics and production play a major role in Tomorrowland Winter’s carbon footprint. To reduce their impact, the festival has introduced key measures:

  • Festival logistics: as of 2025, our own production transport runs exclusively on Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) from build-up to break-down, reducing energy-related carbon emissions by 80%.
  • Sustainable shuttles: The Resalp Shuttle, which transports festivalgoers from Bergers to SATA 1800, operates on 100% HVO.
  • Stage operations: All stages rely on fixed power, with the main stage running entirely on HVO. This pilot project alone saves 387 tonnes of CO2e, this is the equivalent of the annual emissions of 42 individuals.
CO2 reduction through waste management

To reduce the CO footprint of waste, Tomorrowland Winter has implemented a variety of measures:

  • The basics: Fixed and portable ashtrays ensure cigarette butts are properly disposed of, while all food and drinks packaging is 100% recyclable. Tomorrowland Winter is shifting away from outdoor fireworks in favour of biodegradable confetti indoors, aligning the festivities with environmental care.
  • The proactive: Carefully designed food supply strategies significantly reduce food waste.
  • The activating: Waste management is simplified with 90 recycling units across the festival grounds, supported by 100 dedicated recycling and cleaning ambassadors. A reward system encourages visitors to choose sustainable transport options.
  • The innovative: Festivalgoers’ urine is collected and repurposed as bio-product to fertilise 800 hectares of farmland in France.
Involving the people of tomorrow

Through a variety of initiatives, festivalgoers are invited to embrace a cleaner and greener way of living. A reward-scheme encourages them to opt for sustainable transport to the festival, while the Recharge Hub offers them a calm space to optimise their festival experience. For each person who joins the Love Tomorrow pledge, committing to a sustainable festival experience, Tomorrowland contributes 1 euro to projects dedicated to the restoration and sustainable development of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.

Together, we can create lasting impact– reaching far beyond the snow-capped peaks of Alpe d’Huez.
