Partners of Change: Committing to a more Sustainable Tomorrow with KBC Bank & Verzekeringen

Last year KBC Bank & Verzekeringen, one of our Love Tomorrow Conference 2023 partners, received the Terra Carta seal for their commitment to a more sustainable future. As one of only 19 companies in the world that received this recognition, their dedication in creating a sustainable tomorrow does not go unnoticed.

KBC Bank & Verzekeringen employs 42.000 people and services 13 million clients spread over its 5 home markets and recognizes its crucial role in the lives of thousands of people. That’s why they are making sustainability efforts in limiting their negative impact as well as in increasing their positive impact on society. They do so by applying strict policies and sustainability guidelines, by reducing their own environmental footprint and promoting responsible investment products. But also, by integrating the five following focus areas for sustainability in their daily operations: environmental responsibility, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, the aging of the population, and health. Thereby contributing decisively to the Global Goals for sustainable development.

There are numerous examples of how this bank-insurer positively impacts society. Think of the expansion of their KBC Autolease Multimobillity Plan, which includes a leasing portfolio of more than 25,000 bicycles, making them the market leader. Or their EPC-discount on home loans for customers who bought a home with a low energy score and need to renovate it, or by offering businesses sustainability linked loans which include specific sustainability targets that, once reached, lead to a discount on the interest rates. And their Responsible Investing funds of 32,3 billion euros, with which they help clients invest responsibly.

But that’s not all. The Get-a-Teacher program allows schools to bring a KBC employee to their school to help students get to grips with financial matters. And with the KBC-Belmobiel, KBC employees go to the homes of customers who have difficulty managing their daily banking and insurance affairs and are not mobile enough to come to a KBC branch.

So with a multitude of initiatives, KBC is helping to build the society of tomorrow. That’s why KBC Bank & Verzekeringen has teamed up with Love Tomorrow. Our shared commitment to sustainability and proactive approach are the perfect mix for this partnership. A collaboration in which transition is a verb.
